​Rain and hailstorm hit Islamabad again — cold weather returns​

On Sunday, April 20, 2025, the people of Islamabad experienced a surprising turn of weather as a sudden hailstorm rolled in, accompanied by heavy rain. This sudden transition provided relief from the blistering early summer heat that had gripped the city.

Prior to the occurrence, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had issued warnings to residents of the storms that were on their way, particularly in Islamabad and the northern parts of the country, suggesting residents should prepare for hail. But while making it a welcome cool, the storm had also caused some disruptions, powerful the nature that everyone stood.

Earlier this week, on April 16, a severe hailstorm damaged vehicles, shattered solar panels and disrupted power lines in Islamabad’s northwest. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had issued alerts for heavy rain and hailstorms in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, advising residents to take precautions.​

As of 5 PM today, the temperature in Islamabad stands at 25°C with 51% humidity and winds blowing at 14 km/h. The skies remain partly cloudy with no precipitation currently, but earlier rainfall has left the city cool and breezy.​

Looking ahead, the upcoming week is expected to clear up, with sunny days ahead and temperatures rising gradually, reaching up to 33°C by Friday.
