Punjab set to launch 27 solar buses in Lahore this month

Punjab is set to introduce 27 solar-powered, smoke-free buses in Lahore by the end of this month.

Following this initiative, an additional 620 eco-friendly buses will be rolled out across major cities in the province.

During the seventh progress review meeting of annual development plans, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb stated that significant measures have been taken across various sectors to advance the province’s development goals.

In the upcoming month of Ramadan, support for underprivileged individuals will be distributed through “Ramzan Nighban Package Cards” to ensure fairness and convenience.

By February 19, fifteen smart police stations are expected to be completed, and an extra Rs. 42 million has been allocated for the Kala Shah Kaku Judicial Academy.

Additionally, discussions are underway to approve Rs. 500 million for the development of 261 tons of iron ore reserves, according to reports.

Directives have been given to establish shelters in Rawalpindi and Sargodha and to expedite the construction of a model children’s home in Attock.

The budget for minority development has been increased to better support minority communities and to restore the work on historical churches to progress at a fast pace.

Moreover, authorities have been instructed to finalize mapping for a 1,000-acre shrimp farming project.

Efforts are being made to accelerate forest conservation and plantation projects in Changa Manga. Work on the feasibility study for a model fish market in Lahore is also in progress.

A modern climate observatory is being planned for Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore, which is expected to significantly help in reducing air pollution.

In Faisalabad, work on a modern health laboratory focusing on worker’s health and safety is being fast-tracked. Plans are also in place to complete the establishment of hostels and 165 daycare centers for working women across the province.

The upgrading of Jhang Veterinary College and Cholistan Veterinary University is proceeding rapidly, and mobile veterinary services will soon be made available to farmers in South Punjab at their convenience.

Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized that strict monitoring is in place to oversee the performance of all departments. She reaffirmed that there will be no compromise on the speed, quality, and governance of projects to ensure the delivery of top-notch services to the public.
