LAHORE: Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman is set to present the 2025-26 provincial budget in the Punjab Assembly today, after it received the green light in a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The finance minister stated the budget will be “people-friendly” and align with the chief minister’s development agenda. He assured that “no new taxes will be introduced,” and the focus will be on enhancing the collection of existing taxes.
He further noted that the government aims to boost revenue through better use of provincial assets. Key initiatives in education, health, and social security will continue, while small and medium-sized businesses will receive both financial and technical support.
