The Punjab government has confirmed that summer vacations for both public and private schools and colleges will start on June 1 and continue until August 9, 2025, as shared by Punjab Secretary for School Education Khalid Nazir Wattoo, according to the official source.
Wattoo mentioned that the schedule might be adjusted. “If heat levels become unusually high, vacations may begin a week earlier,” he noted, highlighting that the health and safety of students and staff remain the department’s top concern.
The School’s Education Department has made all the required preparations for the holiday period.
The decision comes as experts raise alarms about the effects of climate change, pointing out that rising temperatures and extended heat waves are harming education, public health, and economic activity.
To prepare for the break, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued safety instructions for schools, such as enhancing classroom ventilation, ensuring all fans and cooling systems are working, and setting up first-aid stations with trained staff to respond to heat-related issues.
