Punjab government bans sale of vapes, e-cigarettes

The Punjab government has officially prohibited the sale and purchase of vapes across the province, with the provincial cabinet approving the decision and ordering all vaping outlets to shut down immediately.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the ban during a cabinet meeting in Lahore, expressing concern over the growing popularity of vaping among the youth and its harmful impact on their health.

She instructed the district administration to carry out a province-wide crackdown, including targeted action in Lahore.

Maryam Nawaz stated that the unregulated use of e-cigarettes is causing addiction and serious long-term health issues among young people.

The government’s move is aimed at safeguarding public health and curbing further damage.

Officials have been ordered to strictly implement the ban and take action against any illegal vaping businesses operating in Punjab.

In a related note, veteran actress Hina Bayat recently criticized the rise of vaping among youngsters during a talk show interview, voicing her concern over the trend.
