Punjab collects over Rs800 billion in taxes via digital banking

Punjab has successfully collected over Rs800 billion in tax revenue through its digital payment platform ‘e-Pay Punjab,’ a major initiative by the Punjab Finance Department in partnership with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).

Since its launch in October 2019, e-Pay Punjab has handled more than 86 million digital transactions, transforming how residents pay government taxes and fees.

The platform supports 87 types of payments across 18 different departments, making the process smoother by removing the need for in-person visits and reducing dependency on intermediaries and unofficial agents.

The digital service has brought in over Rs564 billion from Sales Tax alone, more than Rs39 billion in Property Tax, Rs35 billion from Token Tax, and Rs19 billion through Traffic Challans.

Its user base has expanded rapidly, with over 5.8 million downloads of the mobile app, showing growing confidence in digital public services.

At a recent review meeting, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated, “e-Pay Punjab has not only empowered citizens with convenient, transparent payment options but also significantly strengthened the provincial treasury.

We are continuously enhancing the platform by integrating more services to ensure safe, fast, and user-friendly digital payments from the comfort of one’s home.”
