Punjab approves Rs110 billion for govt school & college

The Punjab government has approved a development budget of Rs110 billion for government schools across the province for the fiscal year 2025–26.

This major investment is aimed at tackling long-standing challenges in 38,000 schools by improving infrastructure, filling resource gaps, and ensuring essential facilities are in place.

As part of the initiative, 50,000 new classrooms will be built to address space shortages, and the issue of inadequate furniture will also be resolved.

Moreover, 72 selected schools will be upgraded into model institutions called “Schools of Eminence,” aiming to set new benchmarks for quality education in Punjab.

The budget also covers the completion of boundary walls and the addition of other critical facilities.

These upgrades will follow a revised model that gives school management councils a role in the approval process. The government has committed to providing all basic amenities in schools by December 31, 2025.

In addition, financial aid has been approved for A-class employees and teachers at UETK. Scholarships will also be offered to students in government schools to motivate strong academic performance.
