PTI leaders, Imran Khan’s sisters released after brief detention at Adiala jail

Tensions were spreading outside Adiala Jail as several PTI leaders and family members of imprisoned Prime Minister Imran Khan were briefly detained, only to be released shortly after as law enforcement stepped in to control the situation.

PTI supporters had gathered near the jail in protest but resorted to throwing stones when authorities denied entry to senior party members and Khan’s relatives.

In response, police swiftly detained multiple individuals, including Imran Khan’s three sisters, PTI leader Aliya Hamza, and MNA Shafqat Awan.

Amid the crackdown, Sahibzada Hamid Raza voluntarily surrendered as an act of defiance. However, the detained women were later released after being escorted away from the protest site.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, along with family members Mehrunnisa and Mubashara Sheikh, was allowed to meet him after receiving clearance from jail authorities.

Other senior PTI figures, including Barrister Ali Zafar, Aliya Hamza, Nadia Khattak, and multiple legal representatives, also arrived at the jail for a scheduled visit.

The heavy police presence around the prison remains intact as PTI leadership continues to condemn the arrests, vowing to persist in their peaceful demonstrations until full visitation rights for Khan’s family and party members are returned.

The gathering was initially intended as a show of solidarity with Khan, but authorities believed it unauthorized in the high-security area, leading to the arrests.

PTI supporters have strongly criticized the detentions, calling them an attempt to restrict their right to peaceful assembly and demanding the immediate release of their leader.
