The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially declared that the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) for the year 2025 will be held across the country on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
The confirmation was shared during a session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, chaired by Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani.
PMDC representatives informed the committee that the exam would be conducted nationwide on the same day.
In preparation for the test, the PMDC has also introduced a revised curriculum. As explained by PMDC President Dr. Rizwan Taj, the MDCAT 2025 will cover five core areas: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning.
The test will feature 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be completed within a three-hour window. Importantly, there will be no negative marking.
The paper will be structured to include 15% easy, 70% moderate, and 15% difficult questions.
To be eligible for admission, candidates must score at least 55% for entry into medical colleges and 50% for dental colleges.
Work on a comprehensive question bank has already started. The updated curriculum was prepared in collaboration with academic professionals, education boards, and universities to ensure fairness and alignment with current educational standards.
