Karachi: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached Quetta on Saturday(today) for a one-day visit to attend a high-level jirga aimed at reviewing the law and order situation in Balochistan.
He was welcomed at Quetta Airport by Acting Governor Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, and other senior officials of the province, as per the sources’ report.
The jirga includes participation from tribal and political leaders representing various parts of the province. The PM, alongside the governor, chief minister, cabinet members, and lawmakers from the provincial assembly, will engage in thorough discussions on the current security challenges facing the region.
Tribal elders and influential community leaders are also expected to be briefed on critical matters during the session. The jirga is part of the federal government’s broader initiative to encourage dialogue and reinforce peace efforts in the province.

Earlier in the day, PM Shehbaz strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Surab targeting banks, civilians, and administrative officials. He paid tribute to Additional Deputy Commissioner Hidayatullah Buledi, who embraced martyrdom while bravely defending the area from militants.
He said, “Hidayatullah Buledi set a high example of bravery while fighting terrorists.”
The PM offered his condolences to the grieving family of the martyred official, assuring them that the whole nation stands with them in this difficult time.
He reaffirmed his resolve, saying the fight against terrorism will continue until the threat is completely wiped out from the country.
