Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left for Azerbaijan for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with Federal Ministers Jam Kamal Khan, Abdul Aleem Khan, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi are also the part of the official visit for accompanying the PM, according to reports.
This is PM Shehbaz Sharif’s second visit to Azerbaijan since taking office in March 2024, highlighting Pakistan’s strong commitment to enhancing ties with Azerbaijan.
During the visit, both sides will hold comprehensive discussions on various areas of mutual interest, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation in sectors such as energy, trade, defence, education, and climate.
Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements are expected to be signed during the visit.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan share a longstanding brotherly relationship based on mutual trust, understanding, and cooperation. Azerbaijan continues to be one of Pakistan’s key economic and strategic partners, with strong collaboration across different fields.
PM Shehbaz Sharif is also scheduled to deliver a keynote address at a Business Forum organized in partnership with the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO).
Additionally, he will join the Azerbaijani President for a visit to Fuzuli, part of the recently liberated territories of Karabakh.
The visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to further deepening its relationship with Azerbaijan, promoting economic cooperation, and exploring new opportunities for shared development.
