KARACHI: A cargo plane at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport was taken out of service late Friday night after being struck by a ground service vehicle, airport sources confirmed.
The aircraft, belonging to an international cargo operator, was parked in its designated spot when a loader truck unexpectedly collided with it. Preliminary reports suggest the truck may have experienced brake failure, causing the crash.
Thankfully, no one was injured. However, the incident is being treated seriously due to its potential impact on operations and financial losses. The plane has been grounded as a precaution while a thorough assessment of the damage is carried out.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has opened a formal investigation to determine the cause and whether proper safety measures were in place.
Officials noted that the findings will be used to improve ground handling procedures and help prevent similar accidents in the future.
