Petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to go up by Rs11 per litre, while diesel may increase by up to Rs15 per litre starting July 1, 2025, amid rising international crude oil rates and the continued weakening of the local currency.
The Petroleum Division has confirmed the likely adjustments, and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is set to submit its pricing summary to the Ministry of Petroleum today.
The final decision will be made by the Finance Minister, in consultation with the Prime Minister, with an official announcement expected later in the day.
These projected hikes come shortly after a previous increase on June 16, when petrol was raised by Rs4.80 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) went up by Rs7.95 per litre.
Meanwhile, OGRA has already issued a notification confirming a steep rise in gas tariffs for domestic and other users, effective from July 1.
This adjustment places added financial stress on households, as certain domestic slabs will now see up to a 50% increase in gas prices.
The new domestic gas rates now range from Rs200 to Rs4,200 per MMBTU, depending on usage. On top of the usage-based rates, fixed monthly charges have also been introduced for household consumers.
