Pakistan’s salt exports to China increased by 40% year-over-year in Q1 2025. It reached 13.64 million kilograms worth $1.83 million, according to Pakistan’s Trade Counsellor in Beijing. This growth builds on the $1.30 million exported during the same period in 2024.
The exports consisted of three categories: edible salt, pure sodium chloride, and industrial salts, catering to China’s expanding chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries.
Analysts credit this trade expansion to Pakistan’s improved logistics under CPEC, competitive pricing, and enhanced quality standards. A Trade Development Authority official highlighted the significance of this growth.
He highlighted the change as “A reflection of Pakistan’s growing capacity to meet international demand and a promising step toward diversifying the country’s export base to China.”
