Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Wednesday that Pakistan is focusing on empowering its youth, especially in agriculture, to drive national progress and development.
During a ceremony in Islamabad, the premier announced plans to send 300 students, selected from a pool of 1,000 agricultural graduates, to China for hands-on training in advanced farming practices.
He highlighted the importance of investing in young people, calling them the “nation’s greatest asset,” and stressed that their skill development is key to restoring Pakistan’s global standing.
“These students will acquire advanced expertise abroad and then contribute to national progress upon their return,” he said.
“We aim to transform rural communities by equipping our youth with modern knowledge and entrepreneurial opportunities.”
PM Shehbaz added that once the students return, they will be encouraged to launch their own ventures, especially in rural areas, with the government offering support in the form of subsidies, low-interest loans, and other essential resources.
He praised China for its ongoing support, referring to it as Pakistan’s closest partner, and thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for making the training opportunity possible.

He noted that the students chosen for the programme represent all four provinces, along with Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, and assured the public that the selection was carried out purely on merit.
