Pakistan Railways has received over 30,000 applications for just 550 vacancies of Assistant Station Masters and Sub-Engineers, officials confirmed on Monday.
According to sources, 13,314 candidates have applied for Assistant Station Master roles, while 16,933 applications were submitted for various Sub-Engineer positions. These openings were advertised last year to address chronic staffing shortages.
The written test for shortlisted candidates is scheduled for July and will be organised in partnership with a private university, with all applicants duly notified.
The vacant roles span multiple departments, including mechanical, signals, civil, electrical, and design, many of which had remained vacant for years.
Officials noted that the recruitment is a key step in boosting Pakistan Railways’ efficiency and strengthening its workforce.
