Pakistan conducts successful test of Abdali Ballistic Missile

Pakistan successfully conducted a test launch of its short-range Abdali ballistic missile during a routine military drill named Ex INDUS, reaffirming its focus on defence readiness amid growing tensions with India.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the missile, which can hit targets up to 450 kilometres away, was launched in the presence of senior military officials, including the Commander of the Army Strategic Command.

The test aimed to evaluate the missile’s navigation, precision, and overall operational capabilities.

Military sources noted that the exercise was part of a broader effort to strengthen strategic preparedness and ensure the reliability of Pakistan’s missile systems.

The launch demonstrated the armed forces’ commitment to maintaining a credible deterrence against potential threats in the region.

In recognition of the successful test, national leaders, including the President, Prime Minister, and heads of the armed services, congratulated the scientists, engineers, and troops involved.

They expressed confidence in Pakistan’s strategic forces, reaffirming their role in defending the country’s sovereignty through a “credible minimum deterrent.”

The Abdali missile, designed to carry both conventional and nuclear warheads, adds to Pakistan’s defense capabilities at a time when border tensions and security concerns with India remain high.

Defense officials highlighted the broader implications of the launch, calling attention to the delicate security balance in South Asia and urging international actors to promote dialogue and peaceful solutions in the region.
