PAA resumes all flights after ceasefire agreement

Pakistan reopened its airspace for all flight operations through international diplomatic efforts following the implementation of a ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India. The Pakistan Airports Authority confirmed the resumption of regular flight schedules.

This was the case across all national airports, advising passengers to check with their airlines for updated timings. This development comes after heightened tensions and airspace closures extended multiple times due to military exchanges.

The restoration of air traffic followed a series of escalatory actions that began with Indian missile strikes targeting Pakistani airbases in Rawalpindi, Chakwal, and Shorkot, which Pakistan’s military reported caused no significant damage to critical assets.

In response, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan ul Marsoos, conducting precision strikes against Indian military installations. The situation prompted intensive diplomatic intervention.

Particularly from the United States, after a ceasefire agreement at 4:30 PM Pakistan time on Saturday. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the ceasefire but that the country reserved the right to respond forcefully to any aggression.

He acknowledged the role of international partners, especially U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in facilitating the descelation. Indian officials similarly confirmed the ceasefire arrangement.

Military representatives from both sides scheduled to meet on May 12 to discuss further stabilization measures. The reopening of airspace marks a significant step toward normalizing the situation, though underlying tensions remain unresolved.

Civil aviation authorities worked swiftly to clear flights and restore regular operations, relieving travelers and airlines affected by the disruptions. This return to normal flight operations is an indicator of the calm that returned to the region following days of dangerous military confrontation.
