No government pay revisions in Pakistan’s 2025-26 budget

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Finance Ministry (FM) denied on Monday reports of possible changes to government employee salaries or pensions in the upcoming fiscal year.

In an official statement, the ministry confirmed no proposals are under consideration to increase pay scales, allowances, or retirement benefits for federal employees.

The explanation came after FM Muhammad Aurangzeb issued a written reply to a question put by PTI legislator Malik Amir Dogar in the National Assembly session.

The minister denied reports published in the media giving credit for the announcement of salaries freezes in his speech, labelling them “inaccurate and misleading.

The FM’s statement emphasized that revising federal pay structures or approving significant salary hikes “is not currently under consideration.”

However, authorities are evaluating potential adjustments to housing rent limits for employees living in private residences, pending an updated market analysis from the Ministry of Housing and Works.
