LAHORE: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has dropped the processing and delivery time for the advanced National Identity Card in the normal category.
The announcement has been made on social media by NADRA as part of its efforts to encourage the unregistered citizens to register themselves and have their CNIC card.
Moreover, additional features have been introduced by NADRA in non-chip cards. These updated cards will now include names and parentage in both Urdu and English alphabets. A QR code has also been added to enhance digital verification capabilities.
Additionally, NADRA has not increased any fee rates for the cards renewal. Also, individuals who are applying for the first time for their cards are welcomed free of charge. This regulation means that individuals who used to get their cards in 30 days previously can now have their cards in 15 days.
In the urgent category, the new CNIC will be issued within 12 days with a fee of Rs1,150, while the executive category takes six days for the fee of Rs2,150.
Furthermore, NADRA has granted legal status to the Family Registration Certificate (FRC) as it has introduced new reforms. Under the instructions of Federal Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi, NADRA has made new amendments to the National Identity Card (NIC) rule, 2002.
These landmark reforms are aimed at modernizing the national identity system, eliminating fraudulent practices, and enhancing its overall security.
The NIC Rules were first designed in 2002 after NADRA started its journey in 2000. Following the minister’s instructions, NADRA drafted updated rules to meet today’s needs. These updates were approved by the Federal Cabinet and are now active.
