It also reinforced his status as one of Pakistan’s most famous filmmakers. Naqvi co-executive produced the series, which received a nomination in the category of Outstanding Historical Documentary.

The series explores the roots and ongoing impact of the Cold War through a global lens. Directed by Brian Knappenberger, the nine-part series was filmed across seven countries and features interviews.

The interviews included prominent global figures like Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Tony Blair, and Condoleezza Rice. Naqvi previously made history as the first Pakistani to earn a Primetime Emmy nomination and to win the Television Academy Honor.

The filmmaker described the project as a powerful opportunity to challenge historical narratives. He emphasized the importance of examining events like the 1953 coup in Iran and Cold War-era regime changes to better understand today’s geopolitical crises.

For Naqvi, the project represents more than filmmaking, it’s about creating space for Pakistani voices in global storytelling. “If it opens a door for another young storyteller from Pakistan, then every frame has been worth it,” he said.
