Karachi: Many users of the Meezan Bank have claimed to have lost their money in unsupervised transactions from their debit cards in the latest data breach, which the bank has denied claims.
Reports said that the users proceeded to various online platforms, and all these unknown transactions were made in Malaysian currency before they were converted into Pakistani rupees.
They further added that the amount was being taken from their debit cards through Facebook and other such social and online platforms.
An administrator of the Meezan Bank claimed via a local media outlet that there is no data breach of any sort from their side, assuring the customers that everything is well protected and under control.
He also added that those who had been the victim of these transactions may have given their data to sites that did not acquire any OTPs to be verified for completing the payment processes.
He explained that such activities were not linked with Meezan Bank in any way and could not be named as a data breach from their end.
The Bank further stated that it had received many complaints on the matter previously as well, adding that it had provided the amount to their customers who had lost their money after data had been transferred to websites and apps that did not use OTP verification payment methods.
