Light rain expected in Punjab this weekend: PDM

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast light rain in most districts of Punjab, including Lahore, as a weather system carrying rain is expected to enter the country on Friday.

The rain is likely to bring a cooling effect, resulting in a drop in temperatures across the region according to the Met Office.

Currently, Punjab, including its capital Lahore, is experiencing dry conditions, with daytime temperatures rising while nights remain cooler.

The Met Department has also observed that the duration of the winter season this year has been shorter than usual due to recent weather changes.

On Thursday, Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 7°C, while the maximum temperature was expected to reach 24°C.

Meanwhile, most plain areas of the country are expected to witness cold and dry weather over the next 12 hours.

However, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir may experience cloudy skies with light rain and snowfall.

In major cities across Pakistan, Islamabad recorded a temperature of 6°C in the morning, while Karachi stood at 17°C.

Peshawar registered 9°C, while Quetta and Murree recorded 1°C. In Gilgit, the temperature dropped to -1°C, and Muzaffarabad experienced a chilly morning at 5°C.

Srinagar will also likely witness cloudy skies with light rain and snowfall, while Jammu will experience partly cloudy and cold conditions.
