Lahore traffic police get body cameras to prevent false challans

Lahore traffic police have introduced body cameras for traffic wardens, starting with those posted on Mall Road, to promote transparency and fairness in law enforcement.

Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Athar Waheed explained that the cameras, now built into the wardens’ uniforms, will record real-time interactions with motorists.

This means no traffic challan will be issued without video proof, ensuring both the officers and the public are protected.

Dr. Waheed emphasized that “legal action will be taken against anyone found interfering with official duties.” The recorded footage will also help monitor public gatherings, protests, and processions.

While this step is currently limited to Lahore, its success could inspire similar measures in other cities, though no official expansion plans have been confirmed yet.
