Lahore, Punjab weather: Rain showers bring relief as wet spell continues

Rains and gusty winds brought much-needed relief to residents in Lahore and parts of Punjab, with forecasts indicating that the wet weather will continue intermittently over the next few days.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that moist air is spreading across the upper and central parts of the country, with a westerly wave affecting the weather throughout Pakistan.

As a result, intermittent rain and gusty winds are expected in areas like Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, and nearby regions. Some areas may also experience hailstorms.

Lahore is forecast to see temperatures between 34°C and 36°C on Friday, and between 33°C and 35°C on Saturday.

Over the past 24 hours, rain and gusty winds affected Lahore and surrounding areas, leading to urban flooding and traffic congestion in major cities.

While the weather disrupted daily activities, the rain provided a significant drop in temperatures, offering relief from the heat.

In the meantime, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Dera Ghazi Khan remained the hottest places in Punjab, with temperatures reaching 39°C. Attock saw a high of 37°C.

In Lahore, the temperature hit 36°C, with morning humidity at 72%.
