Kia EV5 specs unveil, gets bigger battery than expected

Kia’s compact all-electric SUV, the EV5, has hit showrooms in New Zealand, revealing detailed specs for the Light Long Range version. It’s anticipated that these specs will largely align with the US and European variants.

The EV5 boasts a larger-than-expected battery, particularly in the AWD LR trim, which packs an 88.1 kWh LFP battery providing a range of 540 km (WLTP). Its electric motor delivers 160 kW with a peak torque of 310 Nm, while fast DC charging supports up to 141 kW.

Features for this trim include 18-inch wheels, smart cruise control with Highway Driving Assist 2.0, and cloth seats. Inside, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen is complemented by a matching instrument cluster and a smaller 5-inch HVAC display, alongside a 6-speaker sound system.

In New Zealand, the EV5 comes with a price tag of €63,360, though prices may vary significantly across different markets.
