Kate Middleton has a charming tradition for her children’s birthdays, crafting homemade cakes for their special day. The Duchess of Cambridge, known for her hands-on approach to parenting alongside Prince William, recently celebrated the 6th birthday of their youngest, Prince Louis, on April 23.

In a heartwarming revelation from a past interview on A Berry Royal Christmas in 2019, Kate expressed her love for the tradition, stating, “I love making the cake.” She described staying up late into the night, immersed in cake mix and icing, as she indulges in her passion for baking.

During a summer event, Kate sought advice from Alice Fevronia, a finalist on the Great British Baking Show, regarding icing techniques. The royal mom eagerly shared her hobby of baking her children’s birthday cakes with Fevronia during the Big Tea Party for the 75th birthday of the National Health Service.

Fevronia recalled Kate’s inquiries about achieving smooth buttercream and straight, smooth sides on the cakes. She humorously noted Prince William’s less-than-stellar piping skills compared to Kate’s expertise.

The royal couple has also been seen engaging in cooking and baking activities with their children. They shared an attractive video of Kate making cupcakes with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee festivities in June 2022.

Continuing a tradition of sharing birthday portraits with the public, Prince William and Kate released a sunny snapshot of Prince Louis lying on a blanket in the grass for his 6th birthday. Notably, this marked a departure from their usual practice of releasing birthday photos on the eve of their children’s birthdays.

Despite facing challenges, including Kate’s ongoing treatment for cancer, the royal couple chose to share the birthday portrait as a gesture of gratitude to well-wishers.
