Karan Johar Pens Emotional Note as ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ Completes Two Decades

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar commemorated the 20th anniversary of the theatrical release of ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ with a heartfelt note, reminiscing about a special memory associated with the film. Johar shared a nostalgic montage of the movie, acknowledging the emotional journey it has been for him and the audience.

In his note, Johar expressed, “This film has been such an emotional journey for me and perhaps for all of us, if I have gathered over the many years.” he wrote. “To bring such a stellar starcast together with a story that has a beating heart…it’s all kudos to the entire cast and team behind the camera for making Kal Ho Naa Ho still beat strong and within everyone’s hearts.”

Reflecting on the personal aspect, Johar revealed, “For me, this was the last film that my father was a part of from the Dharma family…and it feels surreal to have his presence in every frame as I rewatch it even till today. Thank you papa, for guiding us through everything & making stories that matter…and for always standing by what is right. I will always miss you…”

Expressing gratitude, Johar acknowledged director Nikhil Advani and the music team for crafting one of the greatest albums in Bollywood. He concluded the note by recognizing the enduring impact of ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and its place in everyone’s hearts.

Released in November 2003, the romantic drama directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions emerged as the highest-grossing movie of the year, receiving positive reviews from critics. The film featured Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan as the lead trio, supported by a talented ensemble cast, including Jaya Bachchan, Sushma Seth, Reema Lagoo, and Delnaaz Irani.
