The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has expected hot weather in Karachi starting today, with temperatures expected to climb further by Friday.
As per the forecast, the mercury in Karachi is likely to range between 35 and 38°C by tomorrow.
Throughout the day, hot and dry winds from the northwest are anticipated, though sea breezes are expected to return in the evening, offering some relief.
The PMD has also indicated that the heat wave will continue until March 12, after which western winds may impact the upper and northern regions of the country, leading to a drop in temperatures in Karachi.
Over the next 24 hours, winds are anticipated to blow at speeds of 10 to 25 km/h.
Yesterday, the city’s lowest temperatures were recorded at several locations, with Mauripur experiencing the coldest at 10°C, followed by Jinnah Terminal at 11.5°C, Shahrah-e-Faisal at 12.5°C, Gulistan-e-Johar at 13.2°C, and Bin Qasim Town at 13.6°C.
Meanwhile, the weather office predicts that most parts of the country will experience dry conditions, while hilly areas will remain cold. Additionally, gusty winds are expected in central and southern regions.
The temperatures recorded in major cities this morning were: Islamabad at 9°C, Lahore at 12°C, Peshawar at 8°C, Quetta and Gilgit at 6°C, while Murree and Muzaffarabad saw lows of 5°C.
Regarding the weather forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, PMD has predicted extremely cold and dry conditions in Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, Baramula, and Leh, while Jammu will experience cold and dry weather.
Morning temperatures in these areas were recorded as follows: Srinagar and Pulwama at -3°C, Anantnag at -1°C, Shopian at -2°C, Baramula at 2°C, Jammu at 9°C, and Leh being the coldest at -12°C.
