A synoptic update issued Thursday morning revealed that a trough of a westerly wave is affecting western Pakistan and may impact the upper regions over the next 24 hours.

For Thursday, most of the country will remain dry, but isolated rain-wind or thunderstorms are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and the Potohar region. Punjab and Sindh may also see gusty winds.

Friday’s forecast predicts similar conditions hot and dry weather in the plains, with scattered showers possible in northern areas.

Over the past 24 hours, light rain was recorded in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, with Cherat receiving 3mm, Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu 1mm, and traces of rain in Rawalpindi. Most other regions remained dry.

Authorities have urged residents to take precautions, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, and stay hydrated as the heatwave persists.
