Karachi intermediate exams 2025 postponed, new date announced

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has postponed the 2025 intermediate exams, which were set to start on April 28, moving them to May 5 instead.

This decision was made following the board chairman’s orders, mainly because the process of awarding grace marks in mathematics, chemistry, and physics for the 2024 first-year science groups is still ongoing, and several exam centres are still occupied with matriculation exams running from April 8 to May 8.

Officials explained that the overlap required rescheduling to ensure proper exam arrangements and availability of centres.

Students, schools, and parents are advised to stick to the updated schedule, while any new announcements will be posted on BIEK’s official website (www.biek.edu.pk) and verified Facebook and Instagram pages.

Earlier, the Sindh government’s Department of Universities and Boards issued a notification approving grace marks for Intermediate Part-I (Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering) students, granting 20% in Chemistry and 15% each in Physics and Mathematics, after the provincial cabinet’s meeting on April 15.

The Karachi Intermediate Board has been instructed to enforce the decision, though currently, the Karachi Matriculation Board’s chairman is temporarily overseeing the Intermediate Board due to the absence of a permanent appointee.
