Karachi is bracing for extremely hot weather on Thursday, with temperatures expected to rise above 41 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, the city faced intense heat paired with high humidity, and strong midday winds created conditions similar to a heatwave. Humidity levels peaked at 68 percent, making it feel around five degrees hotter than the actual temperature.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported a high of 37.1 degrees Celsius, but due to the humidity, it felt more like 42 degrees. A department spokesperson told The Express Tribune that sea breezes have remained active across the city.
Despite this, the mix of rising temperatures, high humidity (up to 65 percent), and light winds is keeping the heatwave-like conditions in place.
According to the Early Warning Centre’s forecast, Karachi is likely to see stronger-than-usual winds on Thursday. Still, the weather is expected to stay extremely hot and dry, with the temperature possibly exceeding 41°C.
Meanwhile, light rain is on the cards for several districts in Sindh, including Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Badin, and Tharparkar. Even with the rain forecast, most parts of the province are expected to remain hot to very hot, dry, and windy.
