Kamran Qureshi, father of Mustafa Aamir murder suspect, arrested in drug raid

KARACHI: Karachi police arrested Kamran Qureshi, father of prime murder suspect Armaghan Qureshi, during a raid on Thursday.

Authorities recovered 200 grams of crystal meth (ice), a 9mm pistol, ammunition, and other evidence from his residence in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

Kamran’s arrest is linked to the high-profile murder of Mustafa Amir, whose body was found in a burned car in Hub on January 6. Armaghan, already in custody, allegedly confessed to killing Amir and later seeking his father’s help to flee Karachi.

Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) Senior Superintendent Anil Haider stated the raid followed intelligence about Kamran’s involvement in drug trafficking and illegal weapon possession. A case has been filed under narcotics and arms control laws.

Investigators revealed Armaghan used a metal rod to assault Amir, later recovered in Hub. Evidence, including laptops and phones, was transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for analysis.

An anti-terrorism court extended Armaghan’s physical remand for further questioning. Police claim the recovered evidence strengthens the case, with Armaghan showing reduced defiance.

The murder investigation has exposed alleged drug distribution networks and abuse claims involving Armaghan, drawing scrutiny from multiple agencies. Mustafa Amir’s body, initially buried anonymously, was reburied by his family after DNA confirmation.

Authorities emphasize the arrests mark progress in dismantling criminal activities tied to the case.
