K-P weather update: Thunderstorms, rain, snow expected in several areas

The weather in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) is expected to remain cloudy today, with chances of rain, snowfall, and thunderstorms.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), most districts in the province will experience partial cloud cover.

Areas like Chitral, Dera, Swat, and others can expect thunderstorms with rain, while snowfall is likely in mountainous regions.

Additionally, Mansehra, Kohistan, Torghar, and Abbottabad are also expected to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

Yesterday, the temperature in Peshawar was recorded at 14°C, while Kalam and Malam Jabba saw 2°C and 1°C, respectively.

Parachinar dropped to -1°C, while Dera Ismail Khan recorded 16°C, and Saidu Sharif experienced 7°C.

Meanwhile, in the southern region, the PMD predicted on Wednesday that the ongoing heatwave will persist for another 24 hours in Karachi. The city will experience hot and dry conditions, with clear skies and mild daytime winds.

The PMD forecasts Karachi’s temperature to reach a maximum of 38°C and a minimum of 20°C over the next day.

A high-pressure system over Rajasthan, India, is driving the heatwave, which is expected to last until Wednesday.

However, a slight drop in temperature is predicted from Thursday as the pressure weakens and a high-pressure zone forms over the Arabian Sea.

Although the system remains distant from Karachi, it may bring strong winds as it moves closer, potentially lowering the temperature to around 33-34°C.
