The Jaffar Express is set to restart its services today (Tuesday) after being suspended due to a terrorist attack in the Bolan area of Balochistan, Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi announced.
The railway track, damaged in the incident, has now been fully repaired.
Speaking outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, the minister revealed that drone surveillance will be introduced for train operations in Balochistan.
Additionally, CCTV cameras are being installed at railway stations and other key locations across the country to strengthen security.
Last Thursday, Pakistan accused India of arranging the attack on Jaffar Express. The Foreign Office spokesperson stated that the assault was planned by leadership based abroad, specifically blaming India for what was termed “train terrorism.”
During a weekly briefing, spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said, ‘We have just completed the rescue operation for the Jaffer Express terrorism incident.
The attack on the Jaffer Express was also carried out by leadership sitting abroad, and India is behind this train terrorism.”
He further claimed that the terrorists involved in recent attacks in Balochistan were in communication with their counterparts in Afghanistan. “During this incident, traced calls provided evidence of communication with Afghanistan.
The terrorists have safe havens in Afghanistan. Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan interim government to prevent terrorist groups like the BLA from using its territory. Pakistan is a victim of terrorism planned from beyond its borders.”
The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan has consistently provided details of such incidents to Afghanistan, maintaining diplomatic communication on the matter.
He reiterated that while Pakistan aims to maintain strong ties with Afghanistan, countering terrorism remains a key priority, and the country continues to collaborate with its allies on security matters.
