Islamabad announces new school timings for Ramadan 2025

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced new school timings in Islamabad for Ramadan 2025, which will take effect from the first day of the holy month and return to the usual schedule afterward.

As per the revised timetable, double-shift schools will operate from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, with Friday classes also concluding at 12:00 pm.

Evening shift schools will function from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, while single-shift schools will follow the same schedule as the morning shift, running from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet in Peshawar today (Friday) to determine the sighting of the Ramadan moon.

However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has stated that “due to cloudy weather, the chance of sighting the Ramadan moon is low.”

The meeting, scheduled for 6:30 pm on February 28, will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad following the Asr prayer.

Additionally, zonal committees nationwide will hold separate meetings to evaluate moon sighting reports, with religious scholars from different schools of thought participating in the central session.

The Met Office has predicted partly cloudy conditions in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in Peshawar, over the next 24 hours, which could impact visibility for moon sighting.
