India has officially stopped all imports and transit of goods coming from or routed through Pakistan, with the ban taking immediate and indefinite effect.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, issued the directive on Friday, stating that both direct and indirect trade with Pakistan is now restricted, regardless of whether the goods were previously allowed.
This move, according to the DGFT, is aimed at safeguarding “national security and public policy.” Any exceptions will only be made if explicitly approved by the Indian government.
The order applies to all product categories, effectively suspending every form of trade with Pakistan for the time being.
