Temperatures rose across various regions of Pakistan on Saturday, with six districts recording a scorching 45 degrees Celsius, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The PMD’s weather report stated, “Maximum temperature 45 Celsius recorded at Sindh’s Dadu, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Baluchistan’s Lasbela and Sibi districts.”
Elsewhere, Rahim Yar Khan experienced 43°C, Bahawalpur hit 42°C, and Okara and Sahiwal saw the mercury rise to 41°C, while Multan, Faisalabad, and Lahore each recorded 40°C.
Karachi faced hot and humid conditions, with temperatures climbing to 38°C.
The PMD has issued a heatwave alert, warning of soaring temperatures from Saturday (today) through April 30 due to a high-pressure system forming in the upper atmosphere.
This system is expected to tighten its grip across most parts of the country by April 27, causing a sharp rise in daytime temperatures.
Daytime highs are expected to be 5–7°C above normal in the southern areas, including Sindh, southern Punjab, and Baluchistan, from April 26 to May 1, while central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan could see temperatures climb 4–6°C above normal between April 27 and April 30.
