The government has declared May 16 as Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude) to mark the accomplishments of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and Ma’araka-e-Haq, but clarified that this observance will not be accompanied by a public holiday.
According to Radio Pakistan, the day will be commemorated nationwide on Friday to honor the military and the people of Pakistan for their role in what is being called a historic triumph.
Following this announcement, a notification falsely suggesting that schools and offices would be closed on May 16 went viral on social media.
However, official sources have debunked the message, emphasizing that “The Day of Gratitude will be observed at a national level, but it does not entail a general holiday,” and advised the public to steer clear of unverified information online.
