The former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in promoting human rights and democracy in Pakistan.
The nomination was put forward by Partiet Sentrum, a Norwaegian political party, which partnered with an eligible nominator to recognize Khan’s efforts in advocating democratic values throughout his political career.
“We are pleased to announce on behalf of Partiet Sentrum that in alliance with somebody with the right to nominate, we have nominated Mr. Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, to the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with human rights and democracy in Pakistan,” the party stated.
Khan, who led Pakistan from 2018 to 2022, remains a prominent political figure in the country.
The Nobel Peace Prize, awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, honors individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to global peace, human rights, and diplomacy.
If chosen, Khan would join an esteemed list of world leaders who have received this prestigious award. The final decision on the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced later this year.
