The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain in Islamabad and Rawalpindi within the next 24 hours, following heavy showers on Monday night that prompted warnings in various areas.
According to PMD data, the H-8 sector in Islamabad recorded the highest rainfall at 66mm, while Rawalpindi’s Shamsabad saw 59mm.
The rain has also pushed water levels in key dams closer to their capacity. Rawal Dam is currently at 1,735.5 feet, just short of its full level of 1,752 feet. Simly Dam has reached 2,247.55 feet, nearing its maximum of 2,315 feet.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) reported that Nullah Lai’s water level stood at 12.5 feet in Katarian and 6.5 feet at the Gawalmandi Bridge.
Residents in low-lying areas have been advised to limit movement and remain vigilant due to the risk of flooding.
Rainfall is also expected in Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Narowal.
Meanwhile, most areas in Sindh will continue to endure hot and humid conditions, while Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to stay dry. Azad Kashmir may experience showers along with thunder and strong winds.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged citizens to follow safety precautions during this rainy period.
