After years of delays, The Crow reboot has finally released its first trailer.

Bill Skarsgard leads the movie, which revolves around a man and his fiancée who are murdered, but he is granted supernatural powers to seek revenge.

Originally a comic book creation by James O’Barr in 1989, The Crow gained significant popularity with the cult classic film featuring the late Brandon Lee, who tragically died in an on-set accident. The franchise spawned several sequels, including The Crow: City of Angels (1996), The Crow: Salvation (2000), and The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005).

Despite multiple attempts over nearly two decades, the reboot encountered numerous setbacks with various stars and filmmakers joining and departing the project. Notable attempts include Blade director Stephen Norrington and actor Luke Evans alongside F. Javier Gutiérrez. Corin Hardy, Jason Momoa, and Sony were involved in the late 2010s, but Momoa exited the project in 2018.

The new iteration, helmed by Rupert Sanders, features a cast including FKA Twigs, Danny Huston, Laura Birn, Sami Bouajila, and Jordan Bolger. The screenplay comes from Zach Baylin and Will Schneider, with production handled by Victor Hadida, Molly Hassell, John Jencks, and the late Samuel Hadida and Edward R. Pressman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Lionsgate secured the project last year.

“The original film left an indelible mark on our culture that lives on,” the producers expressed. “We are thrilled to bring a new adaptation for today’s audiences that respects this legacy. Rupert has masterfully brought new dimensions to create a contemporary universe for this timeless saga of undying love, and we can’t wait to share this vision with film audiences.”

The Crow is slated for release in theatres on June 7th.
