Field Marshal Munir visits Azerbaijan, meets defence minister

Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), met with Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister, Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asgar Oglu, in Lachin, Azerbaijan.

The two leaders exchanged views on areas of mutual interest, regional security issues, and explored ways to boost defence cooperation between their countries.

The army chief praised the strong bond between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to expanding military collaboration with the country.

Just a day earlier, Field Marshal Munir also held talks with Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, focusing on security and counterterrorism coordination along the shared border.

General Bagheri urged both nations to work together to root out terrorism from both sides and acknowledged the success of their current joint efforts in border management. He also called for deeper cooperation in the future.

Field Marshal Munir recognized the extensive military expertise of the Iranian Armed Forces and emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with Iran.

The meeting underscored the ongoing efforts by both Pakistan and Iran to ensure regional stability through joint security measures and closer military cooperation.
