Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to purchase more than 1,000 new vehicles this year to increase the capacity of the field officers, according to sources on Monday.
The FBR has issued a letter of intent to the company for the purchase of 1,010 vehicles, which will cost over Rs. 6 billion. According to the letter, the purchase will take place in two phases as the FBR chooses to make full payment.
“An advance payment of Rs. 3 billion will be made for the purchase of the 1,010 vehicles,” the sources revealed and added that Rs3 billion will cover the full cost of 500 vehicles.
The letter also outlined that the remaining payment would be made following the delivery of the first batch of 500 vehicles. The entire delivery process is scheduled between January and May 2025.
In the first phase, 75 vehicles will be delivered in January, 200 in February, and 225 in March. The second phase will see the delivery of 250 vehicles in April and 260 in May.
An FBR spokesperson clarified that this vehicle purchase is part of the FBR’s transformation plan. The vehicles are proposed intended for field officers to enhance their operational capacity.
