The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) announced the Fitra amount for 2025 on Tuesday, which must be paid before Eid-ul-Fitr, as per the report.

In his statement, Dr. Naeemi said in a statement that each individual should pay at least Rs220 in Fitra this year. The contribution rates based on different food items are as follows:

  • Rs1,650 for dates
  • Rs450 for barley
  • Rs220 for wheat
  • Rs5,000 for dried figs (Munakka)
  • Rs2,500 for raisins (Kishmish)

According to the CII chairman, wealthy individuals should contribute to Fitrana and Fidya in line with their financial capabilities.

For individuals who cannot fast due to chronic illness or other serious health conditions, Fidya must be paid to compensate for the missed fasts. The Fidya rates are as follows:

  • Rs6,600 for wheat flour
  • Rs150,000 for raisins

Dr. Naeemi clarified that Fidya is intended for people who are permanently unable to fast and have little hope of recovery.

Fitra, also known as Zakat al-Fitr or Fitrah, is a compulsory charity in Islam, especially observed during Ramadan. Its purpose is to help the less fortunate, ensuring that they can celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with dignity.

It is mandatory for every Muslim who possesses extra wealth beyond their basic needs at the end of Ramadan. The amount is typically determined based on the cost of 2-3 kilograms of wheat or its equivalent in local currency.

To fulfill its purpose, Fitra should be given before Eid prayers, preferably directly to those in need or through reliable charitable organizations.
