Earthquake tremors felt in Karachi, no damage reported

Light earthquake tremors were felt across various parts of Karachi on Sunday evening, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The quake occurred around 5:30 pm and had a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale. PMD officials stated that the epicentre was near Quaidabad, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres.

Residents from areas such as Malir, Shah Faisal, Landhi, and nearby localities reported sensing the quake. Fortunately, no injuries or property damage were reported by authorities.

This isn’t the first time the city has experienced seismic activity this year. A few months earlier, a 4.7 magnitude earthquake shook Karachi and surrounding areas.

That tremor had a depth of 19 kilometers, with its epicenter situated 75 kilometers north of the city, as recorded by the Earthquake Monitoring Center.
