Deadly fire in Bagh-e-Korangi: Mother dies, two children injured

A tragic fire in Karachi’s Bagh-e-Korangi area claimed the life of a woman and left her two children severely injured.

The fire broke out suddenly on the ground floor of a residential house within the authority of the Awami Colony police station. The fire spread rapidly, causing severe injuries to the three people in the house.

The police, Rangers, KMC fire brigade, and Rescue 1122, quickly arrived at the scene to contain the situation.

The fire destroyed all the rooms and belongings inside the house, except for the kitchen, which remained untouched.

The deceased woman was identified as Gulshan, wife of Rashid, while the injured children, Asma (also known as Hafza) and Ahmed, were her son and daughter.

According to fire officer Javed Hassan from Shah Faisal Town, two burned batteries were found at the scene, indicating that the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit.

In another incident in Mauripur, near Hawks Bay Grace, a Suzuki vehicle caught fire during a welding process, leaving two people with severe burns.

The injured, identified as 17-year-old Shahid, son of Umar, and 30-year-old Amir, son of Nazar Hussain, were transported to the Civil Burns Ward by an Edhi ambulance.

Meanwhile, a sudden fire broke out in a mobile shop at Korangi No. 4 market, spreading quickly.

Upon receiving the alert, two KMC Fire Brigade engines were dispatched to the location, successfully extinguishing the fire within a short time.

While valuable items were lost, fire officials confirmed that no casualties were reported. The financial damages are still being assessed.

A month earlier, a fire broke out in the Ghariyali Building in Saddar, which was eventually brought under control, with five individuals safely evacuated.

Chief Fire Officer of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Humayun Khan, reported that upon receiving information about the fire on the third floor of the Ghariyali Building near Empress Market.

A fire tender from the Saddar Fire Station was sent to the scene. However, the flames quickly spread to parts of the fourth and fifth floors.

To intensify firefighting efforts, four additional fire tenders, a browser, and a breathing apparatus were dispatched to the location, aiding in bringing the situation under control.
