The Punjab government has announced a plan to give away 10,000 electric bikes to deserving male and female students throughout the province, free of charge.
This decision was reached during a recent meeting of the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council’s subcommittee, chaired by Rashid Iqbal Nasrullah, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Zakat and Ushr.
Among those present at the meeting were Senator Dr. Ghaus Muhammad Khan Niazi, MPA Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Parliamentary Secretary Zubair Ahmed, members of the provincial assembly, and senior officials from the department.
The committee unanimously agreed that the electric bikes would be provided to students who qualify for Zakat support. Rashid Iqbal Nasrullah shared that the first phase of the initiative will see 2,000 bikes distributed.
He also mentioned that this e-bike program is being launched under the guidance of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. According to him, more programs aimed at helping Zakat recipients will be introduced soon.
