Despite government assurance of controlling inflation, the prices of essential goods continue to rise. The chicken meat price witnessed a price hike nationwide on Sunday.
In Islamabad, chicken prices have nearly doubled within a week. The price of chicken meat surged to Rs880 per kilogram, up from Rs450 in just seven days. Similarly, live chicken prices jumped from Rs285 to Rs460 per kilogram, while the price of desi chicken reached a staggering Rs900 per kilogram.
While in Lahore broiler chicken meat price is now surged over Rs700 per kilogram. Even though the government’s official price list sets the rate at Rs595, reports from Tollinton Market show that chicken meat is being sold for as high as Rs730 per kilogram.
In Peshawar, the chicken price rose by Rs70 within a week, reaching 510 per Kg on Sunday. The live chicken price has also increased, the previous price was recorded as Rs440 per Kg, according to the official list of last week.
