Cambridge exams cancelled in AJK, Punjab over security concerns

Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and the British Council have announced the cancellation of O Level, IGCSE, and International AS & A Level exams scheduled for Friday in Muzaffarabad, Mirpur (AJK), Islamabad, and Punjab due to security concerns.

The decision, shared in a statement on Thursday, was made in consultation with relevant authorities after assessing the current security situation.

“Our priority is to support the safety of students and staff, and help students progress with their education,” the statement noted.

Exams in other parts of Pakistan will proceed as planned on May 9, provided the situation remains stable. “We will keep everyone updated if there are any changes.”

“Where exams are cancelled, we use our expertise and well-established processes to make sure we can award fair grades so that students can progress,” it added.

Students, schools, and private candidates have been advised to follow only the official Cambridge and British Council Pakistan platforms for updates.

“If you have any questions, please contact your school or British Council Customer Services if you are a private candidate,” the notice concluded.
